ALAN J. MEENAN, PhD, DD. is Founder and President Emeritus of The Word Is Out. He is the author of numerous articles, books and study guides. He has taught extensively throughout Asia, Africa and America. Born in Belfast Northern Ireland; besides growing up there, he has lived in Scotland and East Africa. He served the Church in the United States for more than 40 years, in Virginia, Texas and California – most notably as Senior Pastor of the famed Hollywood Presbyterian Church in Los Angeles.
Dr. Meenan holds five academic degrees. The first from the Queen’s University of Belfast (BA Hons), Asbury Theological Seminary (MDiv & ThM) and a PhD from Edinburgh University. He was elected to membership in Theta Phi, an International Honors Society as well as the Tyndale Fellowship for Biblical Research in Cambridge, England. He was appointed Research Fellow at Yale University and was later honored with a Doctor of Divinity degree from his Alma Mater, Asbury Theological Seminary in 2011.
Tori Konopinski
Executive Assistant
TORI KONOPINSKI serves as the Executive Assistant at The Word is Out. She brings with her a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Indiana Wesleyan University as well as her past experience working on the Enrollment Management Team at Asbury Theological Seminary as the Coordinator of Student Services. Tori is also involved in her local church in Lexington, KY serving and participating in a variety of Women’s Ministries as well as serving as a Group Leader at Bible Study Fellowship (BSF), locally. If she is not working, you can find her adventuring or reading with her husband, Ty, their three children (Charlotte, Beau, and Jack), and their dog!
Shahe Gergian
Operations Manager
SHAHE GERGIAN is a Minister, Bible teacher, and missionary with more than fifteen years of ministry experience in congregational leadership, biblical education, and cross-cultural outreach. He has served congregations in Missouri and California where his work includes preaching, leadership development, strategic planning, and cultivating a renewed culture of Bible study within established congregations. From 2019–2021, Shahe and his family lived in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, and Perth, Australia, serving as missionaries with a focus on multicultural engagement, training local leaders, and developing robust biblical education programs.
Shahe holds a Bachelor’s degree in Biblical Research and a Master of Theological Studies, and he is currently pursuing a Doctor of Ministry at Northern Seminary. Shahe is passionate about the Inductive Bible Study method and is excited to work alongside The Word is Out in helping people become better Bible readers.
