Susie was a member of Central Christian Church in San Antonio until she became a Longhorn at The University of Texas. Graduating with a BBA, she eventually moved to Amarillo, TX where she has been a member of First Presbyterian Church for 44 years. She has served on several committees and taught children’s Sunday School. A few of her favorite jobs were Trustee, Finance Chair, Building Task Force, Long Range Planning and Decorating. She still serves on the Investment Committee.
Her love for The Word Is Out started when Dr. Meenan was her pastor, and he began teaching Bible studies to the church. It changed her life dramatically, and she wants others in the US and around the world to share the same experience.
Through her years in Amarillo she chaired and sat on many non-profit boards and school committees. Two of her favorite accomplishments were helping form the Domestic Violence Shelter and the Medical Center League House, which houses primarily cancer and medical patients from NM, OK and TX, as well as patients from as far as Africa brought to Amarillo for reconstructive surgeries.
She is now retired from most volunteer work and spends time enjoying her husband, Jay, four children and nine grandchildren.
